MANILA (UPDATED) -- Maynilad Water Services, Inc. said the repair works of a major pipeline in Manila has been finished.

The said pipeline was accidentally damaged by a third party contractor building the New Pritil Market in Tondo, causing a major water interruption that affected several areas in Cavite, Las Piñas, Manila, Parañaque and Pasay since Saturday.

“Natapos na ang repair work sa 2.2 meter diameter pipeline sa Manila,” said Maynilad in a statement posted in their social media pages

The repair works were done at 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Maynilad said water supply will slowly return to affected areas in the next few hours.

The water supply in Tondo, Manila was restored around 6 p.m. on Sunday following disruptions caused by a damaged pipeline, according to officials from Barangay 78.

While water pressure remains low, it is already sufficient for basic needs such as bathing and cleaning, the barangay said.

Maynilad added that it will conduct flushing operations to ensure clean and clear water supply.

It also reminded that the resumption of supply depends on several factors.

-- with a report from Izzy Lee, ABS-CBN News
