MANILA — Senate President Francis "Chiz" Escudero on Monday said that there is no resolution yet that has been filed dismissing the impeachment case of Vice President Sara Duterte.

“Wala pa rin ako nakikitang resolusyon.. Hanggat walang finafile, wala naman kaming aaksyunan o maaaksyunan,” Escudero said.

Escudero said should a resolution be filed, it will have to go through the process and will be subject to a vote by the plenary.

"Lahat ng ginagawa ng Senado dadaan sa botohan. Kung may ginawa ang isang senador, maski tagapangulo pa ng Senado na hindi isang-ayon ang isang miyembro, maaaring kuwestyunin doon sa plenaryo at pagbotohan din kung saka-sakali," he said.

Escudero issued the statement after Sen. Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa admitted to initiating a resolution seeking to cancel the impeachment trial of Duterte.

Sen. Imee Marcos had also confirmed the existence of several draft resolutions seeking to dismiss the articles of impeachment against Duterte.

Senate Deputy Minority Leader Risa Hontiveros said she and Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Pimentel III would insist during Monday afternoon's plenary session that senators should begin the preliminary procedures for the impeachment trial.
