Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla assures the public that no hospital arrest shall be implemented for former Negros Oriental congressman Arnolfo Teves, Jr.This, after Teves was discharged by the Philippine General Hospital after <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/6/17/teves-to-undergo-appendectomy-0616">undergoing</a> an emergency appendectomy last June 18.Remulla said Teves is fit for incarceration after being cleared by his doctor and returned to his detention cell at Annex 2 of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).He said the former congressman shall not be afforded any preferential treatment while inside the jail facility and will be treated in the same manner as any other person deproved of liberty.The secretary added the BJMP will continue to ensure the safety of Teves and all PDLs in its custody.Teves is the <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/09/05/23/arrest-warrant-out-vs-teves-over-degamo-slay">suspect</a> in the March 2023 attack that killed then-Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo and nine others. The killings came months after Degamo was declared winner of a disputed vote, unseating Henry Teves, the ex-lawmaker&#x27;s brother.He was detained in Timor-Leste last year but a court blocked his extradition. In an abrupt turnaround, Timor-Leste <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/5/29/teves-deported-from-timor-leste-1448">deported</a> Teves last May, saying his continued presence there presented a security risk.
