MANILA (UPDATE) — Forty-six Filipinos from Israel are set to return to the Philippines this week, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said on Wednesday.

Twenty-one of these Filipinos are expected to land in Manila on July 3, while the other 25 will arrive on July 5, said OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan.

Other Filipinos in the Middle East have also been inquiring about repatriation flights, Caunan said.

The Philippines downgraded its alert level in Israel and Iran to level 2 or voluntary repatriation last week after Israel and Iran agreed to a ceasefire after weeks of airstrikes in late June.

Also on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump said Israel agreed "to the necessary conditions to finalize" a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza, the latest development in Israel's conflict with the Palestinian enclave.

OTHER COMPLAINTS

Meantime, the OWWA has also assisted around 6 seafarers who complained of not receiving any salary for one quarter.

Nakuha na nila yung first tranche,” she added.

The seafarers also received financial aid from the government, she said.

The OWWA chief reminded overseas Filipino workers that can get in touch with officials via the OWWA Hotline 1348 or via their social media pages.
