Tindig Pilipinas</span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — A lawmaker and other civil society group members on Friday filed a motion before the Supreme Court (SC) seeking to intervene in Vice President Sara Duterte&#x27;s petition to block her looming impeachment trial.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/7/11/sc-orders-house-senate-to-submit-information-on-duterte-impeachment-1806">SC orders House, Senate to submit information on Duterte impeachment</a></div><p>Among the individuals who want to intervene in the SC case are Akbayan Rep. Perci Cendaña, an endorser of one of the impeachment complaints, as well as Sylvia Claudio, Filomena Cinco, Kiko Aquino Dee, Teresita Quintos Deles, Eugene Gonzalez, Yvonne Jereza, and Alice Murphy.</p><p>The filers are seeking for the dismissal of Duterte&#x27;s SC petition for certiorari and prohibition over &quot;lack of merit.&quot;</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/7/14/sc-order-to-congress-should-not-delay-vp-sara-impeachment-trial-lawmakers-1611">SC order to Congress should not delay VP Sara impeachment trial: lawmakers</a></div><p>“As citizens who exercised our Constitutional right to initiate the first impeachment complaint against the Vice-President in response to her threats of assassination and failure to account for her use of public funds, we believe that our voices must be heard on this case before the Supreme Court,” said Aquino Dee, intervenor and spokesperson for the group.</p><p>“Our hope is that the Supreme Court allows the impeachment process to proceed until all evidence is presented and a clear verdict is reached,” he added.</p><p>Earlier this month, the Supreme Court ordered both chambers of Congress to submit documents and information on the impeachment proceedings against Duterte. </p><p>The SC seeks to determine whether House members “had time to peruse the charges and the evidence” before signing the Articles of Impeachment transmitted to the Senate.</p><div><em><strong>More details to follow.</strong></em></div>
