The 69-year-old said she had to connect two benches together just to have a makeshift bed, while she saved the adjacent table for her two grandchildren staying with her.</p><p>“Punong puno na po eh kaya diyan na ko sa usupuan na nakahiga, yung apo ko doon. Kahit papaano may higaan ako, yung anak kong dalaga wala eh,” Almerol said.</p><p>Despite all this, she said she remained thankful.</p><p>“Napakahirap talaga, wala kaming nadala na gamit. Okay na kami basta may higaan, kahit masakit ang katawan, kinakaya. Pati yung bahay namin hindi pa nagagawa. Ang hirap. Pero kahit papaano nakakatulog ako, kahit nakaupo, nakatagilid. Okay lang kahit papaano,” she said.</p><p>Emily Balagtas, who has been staying in the evacuation center for five days, said while they are not staying in their homes for now, she was thankful because they are safe. </p><p>“Kung hindi kami aalis, hindi di po namin alam san kami pupunta. Natataranta kami sa baha,” said Balagtas.</p><p>“Mahirap kasi mas gusto namin ng mga bata na makapaglaro sa bahay. Sa amin mas gusto namin sa bahay kasi doon nakakapagluto kami ng pagkain, dito, maghihintay kami ng pagkain na lulutuin,” she added.</p><p>She also expressed concern about the floodwaters entering the school. The flood water caused by the high tide could reach up to two feet inside the school, she said.</p><p>“Umalis nga kami sa bahay namin, ultimo dito sa evacuation namin may baha. Nangangamba kami kung saan pa aabot ang tubig. Iniisip namin sana hindi na maulan kasi wala na kaming pupuntahan pa,” she said.</p><p>The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) assured evacuees of continuous provision of food, water, hygiene, and sleeping kits in the evacuation center.</p><p>“Kanina nagpulong sina Pangulo kasama si Secretary Bonoan… napag-usapan yun.
