<p>MANILA — Two days before President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.&#x27;s State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, July 28, security preparations are in full swing as the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) finalizes deployment plans across Quezon City and near the House of Representatives. </p><p>Police Major Hazel Asilo, spokesperson for the NCRPO, confirmed that more than 16,000 police officers will be deployed for the event. </p><p>Additionally, 3,707 personnel from support units and 3,320 reinforcements from other government agencies will assist in maintaining peace and order during the President’s address.</p><p>“Hindi naman po overkill kaya lang mas minabuti po ng NCRPO na mas mag-prepare. Mas mabuti na po ‘yong marami kesa doon pa lang po magkakaroon ng problema dahil hindi po natin inaasahan biglang may dadagsa,” said Asilo. </p><p>She also assured the public that the Philippine National Police (PNP) will observe <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/7/10/ncrpo-ready-for-sona-2025-assures-maximum-tolerance-1602">maximum tolerance</a>, especially in handling protest activities.</p><p>“Usual naman po ‘yong [bitbit] ng ating mga Civil Disturbance Management personnel is ‘yong kanilang shield and baton. Lahat po ng made-deploy natin within po sa House or Representatives lalo na po ‘yong CDM personnel natin is wala pong dalang baril,” she said.</p><p>While authorities will allow protest rallies, l they will be confined to designated areas. </p><p>“Meron pong specific na lugar lamang kung saan po sila pwedeng magdaos ng kanilang protest rally,” Asilo added. </p><p>Rallyists will also not be allowed near the House of Representatives. </p><p>Meanwhile, all classes in public and private schools across Quezon City have been suspended.</p><p>“As like before na SONA ready naman. So far, okay naman. Mayor Joy suspended classes as per executive order no. 10 ng Malacañang complying to encourage everybody to watch the SONA and siyempre to lessen na rin the traffic kasi definitely magta-traffic,” said Peachy De Leon, spokesperson of the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/7/17/ncrpo-boosts-sona-preps-with-civil-disturbance-drills-1327">NCRPO boosts SONA preps with civil disturbance drills</a></div><p>Other city departments, including traffic management and public safety teams, are also on standby.</p><p>“Siguro sa mga QCitizens, iwasan nyo po muna ‘yong area na ‘yon because kung marami pong nga protesters, you might be hustled with traffic although traffic management will handle it,” De Leon added.</p><p>Meanwhile, Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN) is preparing the effigy they will burn on the day of the SONA.</p><p>According to BAYAN Secretary General Mong Palatino, the effigy is called “Bongbong Mambubudol” (Bongbong the Scammer) because of the promises that the current administration allegedly failed to fulfill.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/7/8/pco-eyes-series-on-admin-accomplishments-before-4th-sona-1217">PCO eyes series on admin accomplishments before 4th SONA</a></div><p>The effigy features the face of President Marcos and the face of U.S. President Donald Trump, which, according to BAYAN, symbolizes the Philippines’ supposed subservience to the U.S.</p><p>“Ang inaasahan nating marinig sa kanya ay maging totoo. Sabihin niya na nagpapatuloy ang korapsyon.
