MANILA — A Quezon City court has issued an arrest warrant for entertainment columnist Cristy Fermin in connection with the libel case filed by actress Bea Alonzo. The Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 93 set the bail for Fermin and her vlog co-hosts Rommel Villamor and Wendell Alvarez at P48,000 each. Alonzo in 2024 filed three separate criminal complaints for cyber libel against Fermin, fellow columnist Ogie Diaz, and their respective online program co-hosts at the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office. Alonzo’s lawyer Joey Garcia previously told ABS-CBN News that the actress took legal action due to the defamatory statements made against her by the hosts.“This is the very first time that Bea has pursued legal action despite her more than two decades in the entertainment industry,” Garcia said.“She has endured all the defamatory and malicious statements against her character by these individuals in the past months or even years with silence, dignity, and grace. But there is always a limit — and now is the time for definitive legal action,” he added in a separate statement.As of posting, ABS-CBN News is still seeking statements from both Alonzo and Fermin.  Fermin previously addressed the issue saying, &quot;Ang libelo po o ang cyberlibel o cyber bullying na tinatawag nila ay kakambal ng aming propesyon. Ito po ay parang dila at ngipin na magkasama. Hindi po maaaring paghiwalayin.”She said her entertainment program &quot;Cristy Ferminute&quot; was not designed just to earn revenue from the actress. &quot;Hindi lamang po namin matatanggap ni Ogie Diaz &#x27;yung kaniyang kampo na nagsasabi na ang aming daw pong vlogs ay ginagawa para magkaroon lamang ng mataas na views at pagkakitaan si Bea Alonzo. Ang programa po ni Ogie Diaz at ang kaniyang programang showbiz now na at maging ito pong Cristy Ferminute ay dinisenyo hindi lamang po para kay Bea Alonzo,&quot; Fermin said.
