Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News/File</div>MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will not oppose any measure that will curb gambling addiction among Filipinos, a Malacañang official said on Monday, when asked about plans to hike taxes or impose an outright ban on online gambling operations in the Philippines.The Department of Finance (DOF) earlier said it plans to impose a new tax on online gaming, while the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas is set to issue a circular mandating  banks and electronic wallets to come up with stricter measures against online gambling addiction, possibly including &quot;various limits to gaming access.&quot; &quot;Batid po ng Pangulo ang maaaring mangyari sa mga gumon sa sugal at hindi niya naman po tututulan basta po mayroon pong sapat na pag-aaral para po—tungkol sa buwis na ipapataw man,&quot; Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said in a press conference.&quot;Gusto nating limitahan ang ganitong klaseng mga pagsusugal at mabawasan ang mga gumon sa sugal at ito po ay para sa taumbayan,&quot; she said.&quot;Ang lahat ng puwedeng suggestion at maaaring batas para ito ay masawata, hindi naman po iyan tututulan ng ating Pangulo,&quot; she said.Meanwhile, Castro said the President will have to look into several legislative bills seeking for a total ban on online gambling in the Philippines.On Monday, the Akbayan Party-list filed a bill seeking the regulation of online gambling platforms in the country &quot;to address reports of worsening gambling addiction particularly among the youth.&quot;Sen.
