Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro denied Tuesday that she has a rift with Net25 reporter Eden Santos after the Presidential Communications Office requested to remove Santos from covering President Ferdinand Marcos Jr in Malacanang.

Speaking to DZMM, Castro said she has no problems answering hard questions from reporters. She reiterated she had nothing to do with the PCO decision against Santos since she was not even present when Santos approached the President without permission on the sidelines of an event in June.

So wala sa akin ‘yan. Pero kung ‘yan ang gusto nilang angguluhan, e di wow,” she said in a DZMM interview.

The Malacañang Press Corps has pushed back against the PCO’s request for Net25 to replace its reporter from the beat, saying that such a request is an “overreach of the PCO’s authority.”

In the interview, Castro said the Palace  is not banning Net25 from covering Malacañang similar to what the Duterte administration did with reporters from Rappler.

She said video of the incident showed Santos approaching Marcos while the President was being prepped for an interview.

So yung iba, sumunod na rin because of her,” she said.

She added that she sees no overreach on the part of the PCO since the request is only to get a reporter that does not violate protocol.

“Ang ano is - baguhin nyo. Ibahin nyo. So ‘yun lang,” she said.

She pointed out she herself does not approach the President unless given the go-signal especially since Marcos has been receiving threats on his life.

So yan lang yan sa atin…Ang Presidente talaga dapat, sinesecure,” she said.
