Yummie Dingding, PPA pool </span></span></span></div><div><br/></div><p>MANILA — Several bilateral agreements between the Philippines and India are expected to be signed during President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s state visit in India from August 4 to 8, 2025, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Friday. </p><p>Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary for Office of Asian and Pacific Affairs Evangeline Ong-Jimenez Ducrocq said at least six agreements were expected to be “concluded” from ‘wide-ranging’ areas of cooperation such as law, culture, science and technology and others. </p><p>“We have, I think, upwards of six agreements to be concluded. Though the working day is not yet over, so we expect, I think, more to come on [the] line,” she said in a Palace press briefing. </p><p>The DFA official said the President had been invited to visit by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an Independence Day letter last year.</p><p>“The purpose of this visit is to further strengthen the Philippines-India partnership to proactively engage India in all aspects of the relations and seize opportunities for greater security, economy, science and technology, and people-to-people cooperation,” she noted.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>MEET &amp; GREET</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>During the five-day state visit, Ong-Jimenez Ducrocq said the President would have a “very tight schedule” in India.</p><p>Upon his arrival on August 4, he will meet with around 200 Filipinos largely concentrated in New Delhi. </p><p>There are an estimated 1,356 registered Filipinos in India. </p><p>Most of them are married to Indian nationals or are practicing professionals, according to the DFA official.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>MEETING WITH MODI</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>On his second day, the president will meet with President of India Droupadi Murmu.</p><p>He will have a bilateral meeting with the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi where the two leaders will discuss “closer cooperation in economic, defense and security, political cooperation, trade, investment and economic cooperation, and how to further invigorate people-to-people exchanges.” </p><p>“They are also expected to exchange views on regional and international issues of common concern,” Ong-Jimenez Ducrocq noted.</p><p>Marcos will also meet with the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Chairman and Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Jagat Prakash Nadda.</p><p>The BJP leads the National Democratic Alliance and is the ruling and largest political party in India. </p><p>“In the succeeding days, he will participate in business events, meet with the Indian media, deliver a foreign policy address at the Observer Research Foundation,” the DFA official siad. </p><div><br/></div><div><strong>BUSINESS MEETINGS</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>The chief executive will hold business meetings in New Delhi and Bangalore dubbed as the “Silicon Valley of India”. </p><p>“Several Indian CEOs have requested to meet with the President, a number of whose companies are in active preparations to enter the Philippine market as investors,” Ong-Jimenez Ducrocq said. </p><p>The DFA official said some of the companies have made investments in their facilities in the Philippines. </p><p>“I think a number of the companies have already some investments in the facilities, and so we&#x27;re looking to expand these investments from the same companies or to reach out to new companies,” she said.</p><p>“Bangalore is India&#x27;s Silicon Valley, and as you know, in ICT, in technology, they are quite strong. So we are hoping to establish connections, especially for the right sector,” the official added.</p><p>When asked about the possible pledges and expected jobs to be generated, Ong-Jimenez Ducrocq deferred to the trade department. </p><p>“I refer this question to the DTI so that I don&#x27;t misspeak,” she said.</p><p>The president&#x27;s delegation will include the DFA Secretary Maria Teresa Lazaro, Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr., Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina Roque, Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs Frederick Go and other cabinet members. </p><div><strong>RELATED VIDEOS: </strong></div><div><iframe width="853" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/i15eqRTddRc" title="LIVE: Pres.
