<p>MANILA (<strong>UPDATED</strong>) -- The number of individuals who registered to vote for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) already reached more than 2 million, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said on Sunday. </p><p>Data from the Comelec showed there were 2.1 million individuals who registered nationwide for the BSKE in the past nine days. </p><p>Calabarzon led the regions with the most number of registrants at 265,000. This was followed by Central Luzon with 220,000 and Metro Manila with 156,000. </p><p>Videos and photos shared by Comelec showed jampacked registration sites in malls and in booths in Manila and in Bacolod. </p><p>Comelec Chairman George Garcia, who is in Bacolod today to oversee the registration there, thanked everyone for the success of the 10-day voter registration period. </p><p>&quot;Sa pagtatapos ng voters registration, pinaparating po namin  ang aming pasasalamat sa mahigit 2 milyon na bumuno, nagtyagang pumila at nakiisa sa pinakamatagumpay, makasaysayan at pambihirang  pagkakataon tulad nito sa napakaigsing panahon,&quot; Garcia said in a statement. </p><p>&quot;Ito ay pagpapatunay lamang na gusto nating mapakinggan ang boses ng bawat isa anuman ang ating katayuan  sa buhay,&quot; he added. </p><p>Garcia described the high turnout as a way for youth voters to participate in the upcoming elections. </p><p>&quot;Sadya ngang ang mga kabataang Pilipino ang tunay na naninindigan sa pagpasan ng kinabukasan ng bayan.
