<div><br/></div><p>MANILA — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has summoned two Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) engineers, dubbed the “BGC Boys,” over their alleged use of fake driver’s licenses to gain entry into casinos.</p><p>The revelation surfaced during the Senate’s ongoing probe into alleged irregularities in DPWH flood control projects, where the engineers were tagged in the controversy.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/9/9/dpwh-s-bgc-boys-lost-p950-million-in-casinos-lacson-1547">DPWH&#x27;s &#x27;BGC Boys&#x27; lost P950 million in casinos: Lacson</a></div><p>According to LTO chief Atty. Vigor Mendoza II, the engineers have been issued a show cause order and will face a hearing on September 12.</p><p>“Pina-show cause natin ‘yung BGC boys to explain kasi sasampahan din natin ng kaso ‘yan. False identification, use of falsified documents, and all that,” Mendoza said.</p><p>“More importantly, we’d like to know saan galing ‘to. We’d like to trace back, we’d like to investigate it even deeper para ma-identify ‘yung source of the fake documents,” he said.</p><p>If proven guilty, the engineers face penalties ranging from revocation of their authentic driver’s licenses to criminal charges for using falsified documents.</p><p>Mendoza said the harshest sanction would be perpetual disqualification from obtaining a driver’s license, on top of possible imprisonment.</p><p>“The minimum is revocation of ‘yung authentic license nila. Ang pinakagrabe, ‘yung criminal action. Kailangan namin kunin ‘yung actual na pineke nila for falsification. Pero use of falsified documents, doon sila pwede makulong,” the official said.</p><p>For now, the LTO is still awaiting the original forged licenses, as only photocopies have been submitted to authorities.</p><p>This may delay the filing of cases for falsification, but Mendoza said charges for using falsified documents can already proceed.</p><p>“We will initiate it. Sabi ni [Transportation Acting Secretary Giovanni] Lopez, throw the book at them.
