House Infrastructure Committee Co-chair Rep. Terry Ridon hopes the House of Representatives and the Senate will engage in a “joint undertaking” to end proceedings on corruption concerning flood control projects and pass this to the independent commission established by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.Ridon added, he will still study the executive order on the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), and he has yet to write to the upper chamber about this. “Hopefully, magkakaroon po ng joint undertaking po ‘yung Senate and the House to terminate the proceedings on flood control corruption at ipasa na po sa independent commission ito pong bagay,” Ridon told reporters on Thursday.Marcos issued the executive order on Thursday.The House Infra Comm, also known as the House Tri Comm, was authorized to conduct a joint probe into flood control programs.The House Infra Comm supports the creation of the independent commission meant to probe infrastructure project anomalies, according to a statement from Ridon. “We look forward to working with the ICI on the investigation of various anomalous infrastructure projects, particularly ghost and substandard flood control projects which are currently the subject of the Infracomm’s inquiry. It is our commitment to work with the ICI to ensure that truth and accountability prevail, that public funds are protected, and that those responsible for anomalous projects are brought to justice,” the statement reads.<div>RIDON ON YEARBOOK PHOTO: I HAVE NO CONNECTION WITH HERNANDEZ</div>Ridon also stressed he has “no connection” with former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bulacan Assistant District Engineer Brice Hernandez after Senator Jinggoy Estrada posted photos of Ridon and Hernandez from a yearbook showing they are from the same school.According to Ridon, they were batchmates in grade school, but neither classmates nor friends. “Medyo nakakatawa ho na inuungkat po ni Senator Jinggoy Estrada ‘yung mga yearbook pictures ko nung 12 years old po ako to make a connection to Brice Hernandez. There’s no connection with him,” Ridon said. During a hearing at the House of Representatives about the Department of Information and Communications Technology’s (DICT) 2026 budget, National Privacy Commission Chairman Naga proposed that Ridon file a complaint with the commission to look into possible privacy violations with regard to Estrada’s post.Ridon said he hopes Estrada takes it down so they could focus on important matters on flood control. <div>WITNESS PROTECTION FOR BRICE HERNANDEZ, JC MENDOZA</div>Ridon will coordinate with the office of House Speaker Rep. Martin Romualdez on requesting witness protection from the Department of Justice (DOJ) for former Bulacan DPWH engineers Brice Hernandez and JP Mendoza.“Pinag-aaralan na rin muna namin ‘yung witness protection for JP Mendoza and Brice Hernandez kasi sila naman talaga ‘yung malakas po ‘yung loob na nagpakita dito po lahat ng dokumento,” Ridon said. “It will be a request to the DOJ to grant witness protection for the two individuals. This will require siyempre ‘yun pong recommendation po ng komite at approval din po ng speaker of the House,” Ridon added.
