Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News/File</div>MANILA – The Department of Education (DepEd) on Wednesday said the P928 billion budget it is seeking for next year sought to prioritize learners&#x27; health, safety, as well as inclusive learning.  In a statement, DepEd said their proposed budget next year is anchored on good governance. The agency said this year alone, over 2.2 million learners were beneficiaries of the School-Based Feeding Program, just as they expanded the implementation of anti-bullying programs. <div><a class="fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/9/16/deped-submits-p134-b-worth-of-wish-list-amid-flood-control-funds-reallocation-1243">DepEd submits P134-B worth of &#x27;wish list&#x27; amid flood control funds reallocation</a><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/9/16/deped-submits-p134-b-worth-of-wish-list-amid-flood-control-funds-reallocation-1243"> </a></div>&quot;It also continued efforts to close infrastructure and connectivity gaps in public schools,&quot; the statement read.  Their proposed budget for next year also seeks the creation of 10,000 school counselors.  This aims to support learners&#x27; mental health and psychosocial programs, seen to boost the institutionalization of response to issues plaguing the youth sector, according to DepEd. But more than that, the agency is seeking additional budget for its programs, which it earlier lodged to a &quot;wish list&quot; sent to the Senate.  &quot;These include the universal coverage of the SBFP for Kindergarten to Grade 3 learners, continued support for severely wasted and wasted pupils in Grades 4 to 6 and adolescent mothers, the establishment of nearly 1,600 central kitchens and around 2,500 mobile kitchens nationwide,&quot; it said.  <div><a class="fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/8/18/marcos-orders-creation-of-education-workforce-development-group-1838">Marcos orders creation of education, workforce development group</a></div>The DepEd also seeks funds for the following:  - Dental chairs to around 1,900 central elementary schools- Medical and dental supplies to nearly 2,600 clinics- The creation of temporary learning spaces in disaster-affected communities.  “Kung hihingi tayo ng dagdag na pondo, dapat malinaw kung paano ito gagamitin at ano ang magiging resulta para sa ating mga mag-aaral,” said Angara.  During the budget deliberation last week, the agency submitted a P134.528-billion worth of &quot;wish list&quot; to the Senate Finance Committee as they seek additional funding in the 2026 national budget following the proposed reallocation of funds initially earmarked for flood control projects. The &quot;menu&quot; submitted by the DepEd includes the following items:  • P48.89 billion for infrastructure• P20.17 billion for computerization• P17.05 billion for School Based Feeding Program• P15.205 billion for salaries and benefits• P14.106 billion for disaster• P10.24 billion for Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program• P3.355 billion for General Administration and Support• P2.407 billion for other expenses• P1.915 billion for health• P800 million for school support• P379.34 million for inclusive education
