Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News</span></span></span></div><div><br/></div><p>MANILA — The police are studying possible charges against protesters who threw mud and vandalized the St. Gerrard Construction building in Pasig City, owned by contractors Sarah and Curlee Discaya.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/9/5/pnp-peaceful-protests-recognized-violators-will-be-arrested-1039">PNP: Peaceful protests recognized, violators will be arrested</a></div><p>NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin said the group staged a “lightning protest” without a permit.</p><p>He dismissed claims that authorities merely allowed the demonstrators to act without intervention.</p><p>“Actually po, lightning protest po ‘yun and it was not covered by a permit. Their lawyer earlier confirmed plans to pursue charges.</p><p>“Pinag-aaralan na po ng mga imbestigador natin ‘yung mga charges na ifa-file nila pero ang isa sa nakikita natin doon is ‘yung malicious mischief at saka yung vandalism. Depende sa magiging resulta ng imbestigasyon,” Aberin said.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>&#x27;MANAGEABLE&#x27;</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>The NCRPO chief clarified that while demonstrations are ongoing across Metro Manila, the situation remains manageable and does not warrant activating Task Force Manila Shield.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/9/4/clergy-holds-prayer-protest-at-camp-crame-calls-for-police-reform-integrity-1344">&#x27;Galit na ang tao&#x27;: Priests stage prayer-protest at Crame to decry Torre firing, DPWH corruption</a></div><p>“Wala pong basis ‘yung sinabi niyong tumataas na kaso ng demonstration. Kasi daily naman po may mga demonstration na nangyayari. In the past nga po, mas marami nga po yung demonstration na nangyayari during SONA,” he said.</p><p>Earlier Friday, another protest action was held outside the same building, but this time the rallyists coordinated with the police and dispersed peacefully.</p><p>The NCRPO said around 2,000 police officers are deployed across Metro Manila to secure protest sites and enforce its security plan amid the spate of demonstrations.</p><p>“About sa incident sa Indonesia, ibang iba po ‘yung sitwasyon po dito sa atin.
