Tomas, Manila, early Sunday, September 7, 2025. <em>Darylle Sarmiento, ABS-CBN News</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA <strong>(UPDATED) </strong>— Lawyers&#x27; groups this weekend urged future attorneys to uphold justice and fight corruption, as Bar takers on Sunday began to face one of the toughest licensure exams in the country.</p><p>The National Union of People&#x27;s Lawyers (NUPL), in a statement Sunday, told Bar examinees to wield their &quot;unwavering commitment to social justice&quot; as a guide in the grueling examinations set for September
7, 10, and 14.</p><p>NUPL said the people await future lawyers &quot;to practice law with integrity and excellence in pursuit of public interest and service.&quot;</p><p>&quot;As the truth about corruption and impunity floods and awakens the consciousness of every Filipino, we meet the challenge of upholding the rule of law and seeking accountability,&quot; it said.</p><p>The 2025 Bar examinations are being held against the backdrop of investigations into alleged corruption in billions of pesos worth of flood control projects in the country.</p><p>The supposed anomalies in the infrastructure projects have set off protests of angry citizens and public condemnation on the internet of the widespread corruption. </p><p>&quot;Let us heed the call of the times. Rodolfo Ordanes highlighted that there are more than 200 taking the Bar exams who are senior citizens, saying they have &quot;the advantage of wisdom and experience&quot;.</p><p>He said these would be an advantage during the grueling tests.</p><p>&quot;Do not forget your maintenance meds. Hydrate well. Get enough sleep. Surround yourself with people who truly love you. Go seniors!
