<p>MANILA — Senator Jinggoy Estrada challenged former Department of Public Works and Highways Engineer Brice Hernandez to a lie detector test after he <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/9/9/ex-dpwh-engineer-tags-estrada-villanueva-in-alleged-flood-control-anomalies-1055">implicated </a>the lawmaker in the flood control mess during the House hearing on Tuesday. </p><p>Hernandez accused Estrada and Sen. Joel Villanueva of receiving &quot;commitments&quot; equal to about 30 percent of the project cost for some floodgates and pumping stations in Bulacan.</p><p>&quot;I categorically and vehemently deny the claims made by Brice Hernandez. I challenge him. LET US TAKE A LIE DETECTOR TEST before the public para malaman ng lahat kung sino ang nagsasabi ng totoo,&quot; Estrada told media in a text message as soon as Hernandez made the claim before the House Infrastructure Committee. </p><p>&quot;Talk is cheap — handa akong patunayan na pawang mga kasinungalingan ang sinasabi nya tungkol sa akin,&quot; he added. </p><p>During Monday&#x27;s Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing, contractor Curlee Discaya said no senator was involved in the alleged misuse of flood control funds, but this led to a humorous and almost heated exchange.</p><p>&quot;Mr. Discaya, sa dami-dami mong binanggit na pangalan ng kongresista, isa lang ang tanong ako: Senador, mayroon ba? &quot; Estrada said.</p><p>&quot;Your Honor, wala po,&quot; Discaya said.</p><p>&quot;Sigurado ka? &quot; Estrada said.</p><p>Blue Ribbon Committee Chair Rodante Marcoleta then told Estrada, &quot;Safe ka na.&quot; </p><p>&quot;Sigurado po,&quot; Discaya said.</p><p>Estrada expressed resentment at the statement, saying, &quot;Mr. Chair, I move that you strike off the record that statement.&quot; </p><p>&quot;Alam mo namang biro lang naman iyon.
