<p>MANILA — Members of the Makabayan bloc and others who previously filed impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte plan to ask the Supreme Court to “urgently resolve” the pending motion for reconsideration on the decision declaring the articles of impeachment against her unconstitutional.</p><p>ACT Teachers Party-List Rep. Antonio Tinio hopes the high court will resolve the matter before the one-year ban on filing another complaint lapses on February 6.</p><p>“It is an urgent public interest that the matter be resolved kasi nga nananatiling bukas at naghihintay ng kasagutan ang publiko sa usapin ng confidential funds, at humihingi ng pananagutan dito. Impeachment is on the table. Kaya kailangan ma-resolve,” he explained.</p><p>“Gusto natin ma-resolve once and for all ‘yung issue ng ano ba ang tamang procedure doon sa fast track mode ng pag-pursue ng impeachment sa isang high official ng gobyerno… As far as we, as petitioners are concerned, and even ‘yung House mismo na nag-petition din ng hiwalay, as far as we are all concerned, sinunod naman talaga yung requirements ng Constitution at saka ng existing house rules. Kung hindi icha-challenge ‘yung naging desisyon ng Supreme Court, ay nagdadagdag ng mga bagong  requirements na hindi matatagpuan sa Constitution,” Tinio added.</p><p>Bicol Saro Party-List Rep. Lawyers weigh in<br/></a></div><p>The House has also filed a motion for reconsideration on the SC decision.</p><p>“Talaga pong inaantay po ng House members ‘yung motion for reconsideration na matapos po ng Korte Suprema dahil syempre diyan magbabatay kung talagang compelled ang Kongreso na magbago na po ng rules to follow the Supreme Court decision,&quot; Ridon said.</p><p>He said that if a complaint si filed by February 6, the House will be compelled to discuss its rules on impeachment.</p><p>&quot;So, dalawang bagay lang naman ho ‘yun eh. Will we insist on our old rules? Or kahit wala pang MR, i-adopt na ho namin ‘yung proposal ng Korte Suprema kung paano ba namin dapat ginagawa,&quot; Ridon explained.</p><p>He said the House has yet to discuss with the Office of the Solicitor General whether to file a separate motion urging the SC to resolve its previous motion.</p><p>“Pero I think naman po, even without a motion on the matter, the Supreme Court knows na talaga naman po nakaasa...yung bayan, nakaasa po yung Congress at Senado on the MR itself,” he added.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/1/13/sotto-says-to-act-forthwith-on-possible-impeachment-vs-marcos-duterte-1420">Sotto says to act &#x27;forthwith&#x27; on possible impeachment vs Marcos, Duterte</a></div><div><br/></div><div><strong>NO &#x27;STRONG&#x27; GROUND TO IMPEACH MARCOS JR.</strong></div><p>Ridon also said he has yet to see a “strong” ground for a possible impeachment complaint against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.</p><p>He said the Supreme Court has yet to declare unprogrammed appropriations to be unconstitutional, and there are no affidavits linking the president to alleged corruption in flood control programs</p><p>“So if the basis for the impeachment would be yung allegation supposedly that flood control corruption went towards the doorsteps of Malacanang, I think we would need a little bit more details on it...
