<p>MANILA - The Palace is verifying the claim of Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson that former DPWH Sec. Manuel Bonoan allegedly submitted incorrect coordinates of flood control projects to Malacañang to possibly throw off the probe.</p><p>“Sa ngayon bini-verify pa rin po kung anong mga nasabi po ni Senator Lacson. So hindi pa po tayo makakapagbigay ng detalye at kailangan po naming me-verify po lahat ito,” Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro said in a Palace press briefing Thursday. </p><p>Lacson on Wednesday said he received “reliable information” that Bonoan deliberately submitted to Malacañang incorrect grid coordinates of thousands of flood control projects all over the country. </p><p>“Niloko niya si Pangulo,” the lawmaker said. “Sa cover up palang kitang-kitang mo yung kanyang complicity.”  </p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/1/14/ex-dpwh-sec-bonoan-gave-wrong-coordinates-of-flood-control-projects-lacson-2126"><strong>Ex-DPWH Sec. May mga pagkakataon po na may nadiskubre po mismo si Pangulo na may ghost projects at may mga maanomalyang flood control projects yun po verified na po ‘yun,” Castro added. </p><p>“Pero kung iba pa po at very general po yung sinasabi natin ngayon, hindi ko po mako-confirm. So kailangan pa po nating i-verify ‘yung ibang sinasabi ni Sen. Lacson,” she further noted.</p><p>When asked if Bonoan had made any commitment to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as he earlier promised to return to the country from the United States in December, Castro said she cannot speak for the former secretary. </p><p>“But I cannot speak for former Sec. Bonoan. Hindi ko po alam kung anong mga sinabi niya at kung anong pinangako niya. Kailangan lang po siya talahang makablik sa Pilipinas,” she added. </p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/11/12/-bantay-sarado-gov-t-monitoring-movement-of-ex-dpwh-chief-bonoan-outside-ph-1519"><strong>&#x27;Bantay sarado&#x27;: Gov&#x27;t monitoring movement of ex-DPWH chief Bonoan outside PH</strong></a></div><div><strong></strong></div><p>In a separate briefing, Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida said he was in touch with the lawyer of former DPWH secretary Manuel Bonoan, who left for the US for his wife’s medical operation. </p><p>Vida said he required Bonoan’s lawyer to send him information on the former secretary’s whereabouts and the date he intended to go back to the country.</p><p>Castro maintained that government officials who have resigned or left the country and are implicated in the flood control scandal will have to face cases if there are evidence against them.</p><p>“Kahit sila ay nasa ibang bansa, hahabulin pa rin sila ng batas ng Pilipinas. At kung kinakailangan silang masampahan ng kaso at kung may maipapakitang ebidensya, mananatili po silang akusado kapag po hindi sila bumalik ng Pilipinas,” she stated.</p><div> </div>
