<p>MANILA — Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla on Tuesday slammed what he described as “very unfair” claims accusing the Philippine National Police (PNP) of supposedly knowing the whereabouts of businessman Atong Ang to collect the P10-million reward offered for his arrest.</p><p>In a press briefing, Remulla said it would be illogical for authorities to delay Ang’s capture if they already knew where he was, stressing that the bounty came directly from his office.</p><p>“That&#x27;s a very unfair statement. Kung alam ko lang ‘yun, it is to my interest na makuha siya kaagad. Ako ang naglagay ng bounty na ‘yun galing sa office ko, bakit ko pa gagawan ng drama?” Remulla said. </p><p>“Hindi naman ako maarteng tao. Kukunin ko ‘yan as soon as I can.”</p><p>The interior secretary said law enforcement agencies were exerting all efforts to locate Ang.</p><p>According to Remulla, authorities have conducted at least three raids over the past two days based on information from informants, but all operations yielded negative results.</p><p>“We are actively pursuing him kung saan. Mayroon pang 4 other locations kaming minamata in the next two days na pupuntahan din namin,” he said.</p><p>Remulla added that while there was no confirmed information yet that Ang fled the country, authorities were not ruling out the possibility.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/1/15/pnp-tightens-watch-on-ports-to-stop-atong-ang-s-departure-0927">PNP tightens watch on ports to stop Atong Ang’s departure</a></div><p>He said the PNP chief was set to coordinate with Interpol to determine whether Ang had been sighted abroad, particularly within Southeast Asia.</p><p>“All indications are still here. We will know the chief PNP will coordinate with Interpol para makita if may sightings sa kanya sa ibang bansa,” Remulla said. </p><p>Remulla acknowledged that Ang’s wealth could make it easier for him to evade authorities, but insisted that the government’s resources far outweighed any private means.</p><p>“Marami kasi siyang pera. Yung ganyan karaming pera, madali gumawa ng paraan para magtago,” Remulla said, likening the situation to high-security hideouts.</p><p>“Pero ang pera niya ay hindi katumbas ng pera ng buong gobyerno.
