Jervis Manahan, ABS-CBN News</div>MANILA -- Truckloads of illegal cigarettes were seized by the Bureau of Internal Revenue and the Regional Highway Patrol Group-NCR.According to LtCol. Joey Caise, Director of the Regional Highway Patrol Group, they had a lead on where the illegal cigarettes were being stored after arresting two Chinese nationals in Quezon City involved in the sale.&quot;Nagbebenta po sila sa kalsada, upon inspection ng mga personnel on the ground, nakita natin yung grupo na ito, nagpapalitan sila, nililipat yung laman ng isang container aluminum van sa van ng buyer,&quot; Caise said.More than 600,000 packs of cigarettes were seized, loaded in at least three trucks.Upon inspection, the BIR noted the seized articles are not compliant with the mandatory Internal Revenue Stamp Tax required by the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997.The illegal cigarettes had the estimated excise tax deficiency, including penalties and surcharges, amounting to more than half a billion pesos.&quot;It&#x27;s a glimpse kung magkano ang nawawala sa atin when it comes to the matter of illicit trade, malaki laki po yun, hindi po biro ang halagang 516 million pesos, eto pa lang yun, what more kung mas marami pang mahuli,&quot; Emmanuel Ferrer Jr, Regional Director of BIR&#x27;s Revenue Region 5.
