Senate PRIB/File</span></span></span></div><div><br/></div><p>MANILA — Authorities have already searched 14 locations in the country as manhunt operations against fugitive businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang continue, an official said Monday.</p><p>Col. John Guiagui, chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group–National Capital Region (CIDG-NCR), said police have so far received 40 relevant pieces of information regarding Ang’s whereabouts.</p><p>“More on locations [ang mga natanggap na impormasyon]. Actually, ‘yong mga nakita nila is before na lumabas ‘yong warrant of arrest na allegedly nakita nila [si Ang], lumabas sa sasakyan, pumunta sa isang game farm na ganito, meron pa diyan is na-deliveran siya ng mga mamahaling seafoods,” Guiagui told reporters during a press conference at Camp Crame.</p><p>Among the areas checked by authorities were provinces in Calabarzon, Central Luzon, the Bicol Region, and Metro Manila. </p><p>Guiagui said police are still targeting at least three locations in Manila where Ang could possibly be hiding, pending verification.</p><p>“Visayas, Mindanao up to Luzon, nag-effort tayo. Kung ano ang dumating sa atin na information, we are validating,” Guiagui said.</p><p>Ang, tagged as one of the most wanted individuals in the country, is the only one still unaccounted for among the 22 individuals issued warrants of arrest over the disappearance of dozens of sabungeros, or cockfighting enthusiasts.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/1/16/lipa-court-issues-arrest-warrant-vs-atong-ang-others-over-sabungeros-case-1302">Lipa court issues arrest warrant vs Atong Ang, others over sabungeros case</a></div><div><br/></div><div><strong>ATONG ANG ABROAD?</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>Guiagui said “efforts have been in place already” to verify reports that Ang may be in<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/1/22/atong-ang-possibly-in-cambodia-or-thailand-dilg-chief-1107"> Cambodia or Thailand</a>. He noted that authorities are also looking into other countries where Ang may have gone.</p><p>Without verified physical sightings, however, Guiagui said police will continue searching for Ang in the country.</p><p>“Hangga’t wala naman siya sa ibang bansa at andito siya — 100 percent ‘yong [hopes] natin na mahahanap natin siya kasi tuloy-tuloy naman ‘yong effort,” Guiagui said.</p><p>“Hindi lang natin ‘to mandate, responsibilidad natin ito sa mga naghahanap ng hustisya para sa kanilang mga nawawalang pamilya,” he added.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/1/16/missing-sabungeros-kin-to-atong-ang-face-arrest-defend-yourself-in-court-1034">Missing sabungeros&#x27; kin to Atong Ang: Face arrest, defend yourself in court</a></div><div><br/></div><div><strong>STILL ARMED AND DANGEROUS</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>Meanwhile, Guiagui said Ang is still considered armed and dangerous despite having <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/1/21/atong-ang-surrenders-guns-after-pnp-revokes-firearms-license-1817">surrendered five of his six firearms</a> following the revocation of his License to Own and Possess Firearms and Firearms Registration.</p><p>Ang’s lawyer earlier said another gun registered to Ang — a .260 rifle — was lost in October, months before the permits were revoked.</p><p>“Ang dami niyang bodyguards and associates wanting to protect him. Paano mo mapo-protektahan ang isang tao? You should be armed also. So, we still consider him armed and dangerous,” Guiagui said.</p><p>Guiagui noted the challenges in arresting Ang due to his vast resources and influence, admitting that it may take some time before he is apprehended.</p><p>“‘Yong resources, saka ‘yong influence at lawak ng kaibigan ni Atong Ang, ito ang nagpapahirap sa atin.
