Bea Cuadra, ABS-CBN News</span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — A portion of the Nagtahan Flyover’s northbound lane was temporarily closed early Tuesday morning after a dump truck spilled a massive amount of mud across the pavement, creating a slippery hazard for motorists and paralyzing traffic in the area.</p><p>The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) reported that the spill occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. </p><p>By 4:30 a.m, authorities made the call to block the affected section to prevent accidents, as the thick mud rendered the road impassable for light vehicles.</p><p>The driver of the dump truck, who was transporting excavated soil from a Skyway construction site in Pandacan, explained that the spill happened as he was gaining momentum to ascend the flyover.</p><p>“Habang paahon po ako dito sa tulay na ‘to, mabilis ‘yung takbo ko kasi nakabwelo ako galing doon sa kabilang tulay,&quot; he said.</p><p>He only realized the extent of the situation when he reached the peak of the flyover. &quot;Naramdaman ko ‘yung pagpatak ng mga putik doon na ‘ko banda… kaya napansin ko, huminto na ‘ko doon. Doon na lalo bumuhos ‘yung karga,&quot; he added.</p><p>Upon inspection, the driver found that the truck&#x27;s rear locks had loosened.</p><p>“Pagbaba ko, nakita ko ang haba na ng nalaglag na putik. Kumalas ‘yung dalawang lock niya sa gilid,&quot; he explained.</p><p>The mud was intended to be dumped at a site in Obando, Bulacan.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>RUSH HOUR<br/></strong></div><div><br/></div><p>The timing of the spill coincided with the start of the morning rush hour, leaving workers and delivery drivers stranded. </p><p>Among those caught in the traffic was Christian Fernandez, a truck driver who expressed his frustration over the delay.</p><p>&quot;Grabe sobra, kasi imbes na naghahabol kami ng oras na ma-deliver namin, nauubusan na kami ng oras dito pa lang,&quot; Fernandez said.</p><p>MMDA personnel arrived on-site shortly after the incident to begin scraping the mud off the asphalt.
