Philipp Ines said 18,000 police personnel would be deployed in critical areas this Friday, some of whom came from nearby provinces such as Calabarzon and Central Luzon.</p><p>“Lahat &#x27;yan, nakalatag na ang lahat ng ating ginagawa na &#x27;yan, &#x27;yung mga security plan natin kung sakaling magkaroon ng… emergency. Mayroon tayong mga lugar kung saan natin sila dadalhin,” Ines said in a briefing aried on PTV.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/1/5/chavit-singson-calls-on-groups-to-mount-one-time-big-time-rally-vs-corruption-2310">‘All systems go’: Preparations in full swing for Nazareno 2026</a></div><p>“May evacuation area po tayo. Ina-identify natin &#x27;yung mga malalapit na ospital. Kung sakaling mayroon tayong mga deboto na kailangan nating dalhin diyan,” he said.</p><p>Last year, over 8 million devotees joined the annual Traslacion. Ines said they are expecting more people to join the event.</p><p> &quot;Lahat ng ating mga pamamaraan, ginawa na natin. Marami na tayong ginawang pagkilos. &#x27;Yung mga inter-agency coordination meeting, nagkaroon tayo ng walkthrough, tinitingnan natin kung mayroon pa bang dadaanang iba… lahat ginagawan ng paraan,” he said.</p><p>For the police official, everything is &quot;all set&quot; and urged the public to adhere to all the rules of the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno.</p><p>The MPD is also coordinating with the Manila local government unit as much as possible to ensure that the preparations would be followed.</p><p>“Sabi natin, plantsado na ito pero hindi tayo dapat maging kampante. Dapat walang puwang na magkamali tayo sa paglalatag ng seguridad,” he said.</p><p>Authorities earlier said several roads would be temporarily closed to motorists and devotees while the andas of Jesus Nazareno had not yet passed.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/1/2/from-church-to-street-jesus-nazareno-replica-visits-quiapo-barangays-1332">From church to street: Jesus Nazareno replica visits Quiapo barangays</a></div><p>These include Independence Road up to Katigbak Drive; portions of Roxas Boulevard and Padre Burgos Street; Ayala Bridge; Carlos Palanca Street up to Globo de Oro Street, including Solano and Padilla Streets.</p><p>P. Casal Street up to Mendiola/Legarda will remain closed to give way to emergency vehicles and rescuers.</p><p>According to church officials, aside from members of the Hijos del Nazareno, hundreds of police officers who are also devotees, called “hijos-pulis”, will serve as partners of the church this year to help ensure the peaceful conduct of the Traslacion.</p><p>Church authorities clarified that the “hijos-pulis” will not wear standard police uniforms but specially designed attire bearing the image of the Jesus Nazareno.</p><div><strong><br/></strong></div><div><strong>US EMBASSY IN MANILA OPEN ON JAN. 9</strong></div><p>The US Embassy in Manila announced it will remain open for regular operations on January 9, Friday.</p><p>The embassy also reminded US citizens joining the event to use caution due to dangers associated with large crowds and to expect delay in receiving immediate medical attention in the area.</p><p>It also advised motorists to consider alternate routes.</p>
