Francel Margareth Padilla said the military remains on standby in case there is a need for augmentation requested by the Philippine National Police (PNP), which is the primary agency for maintaining peace and order during public assemblies.</p><p>“The AFP stands ready to provide assistance and support to our law enforcement authorities when requested and as directed also by proper authority in accordance with established operational procedures and inter-agency coordination,” Padilla told reporters at a regular media briefing in Camp Aguinaldo.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/2/23/over-13-400-cops-deployed-for-edsa-rites-3rd-trillion-peso-march-ncrpo-1034">Over 13,400 cops deployed for EDSA rites, 3rd Trillion Peso March: NCRPO</a></div><p>For this year’s EDSA People Power Revolution anniversary on Wednesday, progressive groups have coincided the commemoration with an anti-corruption and political dynasties rally dubbed the “Trillion Peso March Movement.”</p><p>Coalition Tindig Pilipinas earlier said it expects more than 30,000 people to join the assembly.</p><p>Police said they have deployed over 13,000 personnel across Metro Manila, specifically in identified convergence areas, major thoroughfares, transport hubs, and other key installations to ensure public safety and manage crowd movement.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/2/24/filipinos-should-embrace-the-true-spirit-of-edsa-group-1329">Filipinos should embrace the true spirit of EDSA—group</a></div><p>Padilla said the military fully respects the democratic process while ensuring stability and security.</p><p>“Hindi po kami referee ng politika. Ang mandato po namin ay seguridad,” she said. </p><p>“Demokrasya po ang ating ipinagdiriwang dito at bahagi po ng demokrasya ang disiplina at respeto po sa ating batas.”</p><p>(We are not referees of politics. Our mandate is security. We are celebrating democracy here, and part of democracy is discipline and respect for our laws.)</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>DOJ PROSECUTORS ON STANDBY</strong></div><p>Meanwhile, the Department of Justice said it is on standby for possible arrests in rallies.</p><p>&quot;The DOJ through its prosecutors will be on standby to assist law enforcement for the conduct of Inquest, if necessary,&quot; department spokesperson Atty.
