<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1772158714512HCIP-WKaIAAAE7s_cropped_processed_by_imagy.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Pinalikas ang lahat ng mga nasa loob ng Quezon City Hall of Justice Building matapos ang umano’y bomb threat sa gusali nitong Biyernes ng umaga. 🎥 Kaye De Guzman/screengrab</span></span></span></div><p>MANILA<strong> (UPDATE) </strong>— A bomb threat disrupted the hearing on the case of jailed former lawmaker Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves Jr. at a Quezon City court Friday morning, affecting other court operations as well.</p><p>The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said the bomb threat was reported inside the Quezon City Hall of Justice at around 8:48 a.m.</p><p>A clerk-in-charge reportedly received a text message about the alleged threat in the area, prompting the immediate evacuation of court employees and guests from the building.</p><p>Personnel from the Kamuning Police Station 10 proceeded to the location to conduct area monitoring, while the QCPD Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit carried out panelling and sweeping operations within the building.</p><div><br/></div><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?height=476&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Freel%2F2568702097305326%2F&amp;show_text=false&amp;width=267&amp;t=0" width="267" height="476" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div><p>The operations concluded at 11:05 a.m., with the EOD team reporting that no hazardous materials were found and that no explosive, incendiary, or similar devices were discovered. </p><p>Court operations resumed shortly before 12 noon.</p><p>“Nataranta na nga ako eh. Sa emergency exit kami pinadaan. Anak ng pating, ang hirap pala sa emergency exit; matarik!” Teves’ legal counsel, Ferdinand Topacio, told reporters in a chance interview outside the building. </p><p>(I was panicking. They made us go through the emergency exit. Son of a shark, the emergency exit is really difficult; it’s steep!)</p><p>The hearing was being held at Branch 77 on the second floor of the building.</p><p>“Ang nakakatawa nga, terrorism pa naman ‘yong charge eh biglang tumimbre po ‘yong fire alarm,” Topacio recounted. “Kasagsagan ng mga oral arguments ay biglang nag-fire alarm.”</p><p>(The funny thing is, the charge is terrorism, yet suddenly the fire alarm rang. Right in the middle of the oral arguments, the fire alarm went off.)</p><p>Court documents and pieces of evidence were properly secured before the evacuation, according to Topacio.</p><p>The case proceeding was then postponed to a later date, with the next schedule set for March 4 for the marking of evidence.</p><p>Topacio denied insinuations that the bomb threat was related to the case, noting that his client was not present during the hearing.</p><p>Teves has been detained at a high-security facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City.</p><p>He was designated a terrorist by the Philippine Anti-Terrorism Council (ATC) in July 2023 due to his link to “a pattern of orchestrated killings and acts of violence in Negros Oriental, that culminated in the assassination of Governor Roel Degamo on March 4, 2023,” according to the Department of Justice. </p><div><br/></div><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO</strong></div><div><br/><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/JTy06tQzWe8?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div>
