<p>MANILA — The family of slain policewoman Diane Marie Mollenido has withdrawn the robbery with homicide and theft complaint against her estranged husband, Police Senior Master Sergeant John Mollenido, a document obtained by ABS-CBN News showed.</p><p>In the minutes of the inquest at the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office, Daisie Gabres, the sister of Mrs. Mollenido, filed a motion to withdraw the complaint against Mr. Mollenido.</p><p>Quezon City Police District Director Col. Let’s just give him time to grieve,” Rimando said. “It is clear based on the investigation that my client had no hand in the killing.”</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/2/4/napolcom-launches-administrative-probe-into-cop-s-alleged-role-in-mollenido-killings-2146">Napolcom launches administrative probe into cop’s alleged role in Mollenido killings</a></div><p>Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla earlier said police were probing the possible involvement of the husband for allegedly ordering the immediate cremation of his wife’s body, with her clothes on, and for allegedly showing no emotion or remorse following the incident.</p><p>Mr. Mollenido remains under restrictive custody of the National Capital Region Police Office as he faces a separate obstruction of justice complaint and an administrative probe.</p><p>While his camp has yet to receive a copy of the complaint, Rimando stressed that the remains of the wife were turned over to Mr. Mollenido two days after the body was recovered on January 24, giving police officers sufficient time to process the victim.</p><p>“That means to say the police processed it for two days. They had the whole two days, and it was released to my client. So it is not correct to say that he intentionally damaged or ruined the evidence,” Rimando said.</p><p>“Emotion is not synonymous with or a substitute for guilt, so he should not be arrested or placed under custody because of his emotion,” Rimando said. “This person is really a nonchalant person.
