<div style="text-align:center"><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?height=314&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Freel%2F1854173368567567%2F&amp;show_text=false&amp;width=560&amp;t=0" width="560" height="314" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe><br/></div><p>MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. thanked public school educators as he led the oath-taking of 2,915 newly promoted teachers and school leaders from the National Capital Region (NCR) on Friday.</p><p>During the event in Makati City, Marcos highlighted the invaluable contribution of educators to the development of students and to the country as a whole.</p><p>“As I said in my third State of the Nation Address, no public school teacher should retire as Teacher I anymore. We will expand our educators’ career path through strategic reclassification. By creating more high-level positions, we can have senior educators move up based on merit and open new entry positions to new graduates. Your promotion will be a doorway to a better life for you and your family,” Marcos Jr. said in his speech.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/1/19/deped-pays-fresh-education-graduates-to-tutor-under-aral-program-no-lpt-required-1801">DepEd pays fresh education graduates to tutor under ARAL program; no LPT required<br/></a></div><p>He said the education sector remains a government priority, which is why it received the biggest chunk of the 2026 national budget amounting to more than P1.34 trillion.</p><p>He also mentioned the release of a 10,000-peso teaching allowance for school year 2025 to 2026, the reduction of paper work for teachers so that they can focus on teaching, and the creation of a system that protects and empowers them.</p><p>He also shared that he knows the struggle of educators because several of his family members — his grandmother, mother, and his wife — were educators as well.</p><p>“I know that it takes patience, sacrifice and, most of all, courage,” Marcos said.</p><p>He then urged teachers to give students lessons that shape lives, and lessons of integrity and love of country.</p><p>Also present at the event were Education Secretary Sonny Angara and Makati City Mayor Nancy Binay.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/12/3/deped-hopes-to-hire-more-than-30k-teachers-in-2026-1741">DepEd hopes to hire more than 30K teachers in 2026</a></div><p>In a statement, DepEd said promotions were facilitated through appointments to natural vacancies and position reclassification under the Expanded Career Progression (ECP) framework. This helped address long-standing promotion backlogs in NCR.</p><p>Angara added that a promotion under the ECP means an increase in pay as wll.</p><p>“Kaya hindi lang ito ranggo, kundi may benepisyo din ho ito at ito yung talagang pagkikilala doon sa serbisyo ng isang guro.”</p><p>(So this is not just a rank, but also benefits and a genuine recognition of a teacher&#x27;s service)</p><p>One of the teachers who was promoted is Eloisa Reyes who moved up from Teacher I to III after a decade.</p><p>“I’m very, very, very grateful,” Reyes said. “Bago man lang ako mag-retire this June 8, retirement, that’s my 65th birthday.&quot;</p><p>(I&#x27;m very, very, very grateful to have been promoted before I retire on June 8.
