<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/17732011352361773201133017.jpeg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">National Security Adviser Eduardo Año attends the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023 - 2028 Forum at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City on January 30, 2023. <em>Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News/File</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — National Security Adviser Eduardo Año on Wednesday filed cyber libel and perjury complaints before the Department of Justice against the 18 alleged former Marines and lawyer Levito Baligod over pay-off claims in which the official&#x27;s name was mentioned.</p><p>Año noted that he had filed charges against the same group of people over their alleged unlawful means of use of publication and unlawful utterances, saying the complaints he filed Wednesday were more personal.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/3/4/a-o-files-criminal-complaint-vs-18-ex-marines-baligod-and-defensor-1643">Año files criminal complaint vs. &#x27;18 ex-marines,&#x27; Baligod and Defensor</a></div><p>&quot;I want to make it clear, wala naman akong pake sa ibang pinagsasabi nila, doon lang ako concerned sa malicious imputations and fabrications directed against me,&quot; he said.</p><p>He said he filed cases to determine those who made the &quot;fabrication,&quot; as he noted that the 18 people lodged a joint affidavit.</p><p>Año was tagged in the joint affidavit of the 18 alleged ex-Marines, alleging they delivered cash to certain personalities in relation to the flood control corruption scandal.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>&#x27;I HAVE TO PROTECT MY NAME AND HONOR&#x27;</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>He said there were people who &quot;obviously&quot; directed to add his name to the accusations to &quot;smear&quot; his name and to &quot;discredit&quot; the National Security Council as an institution.</p><p>He said this was a desperate attempt to besmirch his name.</p><p>&quot;I have to protect my name and my honor. I have served the Armed Forces for 38 years, kahit ano mang kaso diyan ng corruption at moral turpitude, or whatever, wala akong kinasangkutan diyan, and much more nung DILG (Department of the Interior and Local Government) secretary na ako, and now as National Security Adviser,&quot; he said.</p><p>Año added that he was not involved in any flood control project.</p><p>Prior to this, former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, Mamamayang Liberal party-list Rep.
