Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News/File<br/></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — As part of its “cost-cutting initiatives,” the House of Representatives is adopting a 3-day on-site and 1-day work from home (WFH) work setup during session days, based on a House memorandum dated March 12.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/3/16/oil-prices-open-higher-as-war-in-middle-east-rages-0933">Oil prices open higher as war in Middle East rages</a></div><p>But during recess, work will be done on-site for two days, and two days from home.</p><p>This is among short-term measures to “streamline operations, reduce non-essential expenditures, and optimize the use of public resources,” the memorandum said.</p><p>During session days, work will be on-site from Monday to Wednesday, with work from home on Thursdays.</p><p>The two-days on-site during recess are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, while WFH days are on Mondays and Thursdays.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/3/6/marcos-jr-announces-temporary-4-day-work-week-for-gov-t-offices-1834">Marcos Jr. announces temporary 4-day work week in several gov’t offices</a></div><p>Some offices, including the Records Management Service and Legislative Security Bureau, are required to maintain a skeletal workforce on-site during WFH days.</p><p>The Office of the President earlier directed all government agencies to strictly adopt energy conservation protocols, citing “ongoing geopolitical tensions” and “volatility in global energy markets, resulting in the rising cost of fuel.”</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>DOJ</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>Meanwhile, Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida urged officials and personnel of the Department of Justice and its attached agencies to include their families and their homes in energy conservation efforts amid continuing tensions in the Middle East.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/3/9/doj-implements-4-day-on-site-work-week-1805">DOJ implements 4-day on-site work week</a></div><p>The call follows the implementation of a four-day on-site workweek for DOJ personnel, curbs on official travel, and greater use of online platforms.</p><p>“Bring this spirit of stewardship to your families.
