4 security guards nabbed in Pasay for allegedly hitting, threatening minors

MANILA— Pasay City police arrested four security guards for allegedly slapping around and threatening a group of minors inside a security barracks at an amusement park along Seaside Boulevard.Police Col. Joselito De Sesto said the incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on March 22 and involved several minors whom guards supposedly accosted as they were riding bicycles in the area.Authorities said the minors, who admitted to asking passersby for coins, were approached by a roving guard and told to stop begging, which is prohibited in the vicinity.They were later brought to a security barracks by responding guards for supposed verification. However, based on the police investigation, the situation escalated into alleged verbal and physical abuse.“So ayun doon sa loob ng barracks, ’yun na pinagsasampal ang mga bata habang pinapasulat ng kanilang mga pangalan,” said De Sesto.“Then ’yung ibang guards naman, ’yun tinutukan ng baril, tapos sinabi na itatapon doon sa Manila Bay. Manila Bay, ganoon. Okay. Tapos may dumating ulit na security guard, sinampal ulit ’yung iba. Then ano, pinalabas na lang doon sa barracks. So hindi na dinala sa ano, sa sub-station,” he added.<div>25-anyos na sekyu na 4 araw nawawala, natagpuang patay sa Balili River </div>The minors and their parents and guardians reported the incident to Sub-Station 10 the next afternoon, which led to the guards&#x27; arrest.“So, itong taga-sub-stations naman natin, dinala agad dito sa ating ano, ah, sa Women’s and Children Protection Office natin,” De Sesto said.“Bale ’tong mga bata, siyempre na-trauma sila. Tapos ’yung kanilang magulang galit na galit. So talagang finile-an sila ng kaso,” he further said.Authorities recovered a 9mm pistol, a loaded magazine, and a security license from one of the suspects.“Nahuli po natin ’tong apat na security guards, tapos nakuha rin natin ’yung baril na ginamit na allegedly na itinutok sa mga bata,” he added.Pasay police said the suspects, whose names are being withheld, are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and DiscriminationAct. One of the suspects also faces charges under Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, while another is charged with slight physical injuries.The suspects declined to issue a statement, saying they would answer the allegations in court.
