TAGUIG CITY — The Taguig City Police has arrested a member of a robbery group and three others in an anti-criminality operation in Barangay Pembo on March 24.P/Col. Julius Añonuevo said the suspect is responsible for a separate robbery in Makati and Muntinlupa.Taguig City Police said they were arrested in a joint anti-criminality operation conducted by police at around 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday, along Tanaquin Street in Barangay Pembo, authorities said.Añonuevo said two of the suspects were arrested for alleged violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. One suspect, meanwhile, faces charges under Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, while the other will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9516 or the law on illegal possession of explosives.Authorities said the operation stemmed from an ongoing anti-criminality campaign when operatives received information from Sub-Station 10 about a group of men allegedly loitering inside a residence in Barangay Pembo.“Is just coincident na meron kaming anti-criminality operation… So nung pumunta roon, i-validate, tingnan, nakita ‘yung mga personal na nandoon, may dalawang hindi kilala, may isang may kilala,” said Añonuevo.“Na-identify si… meron na kaming initial information na siya is involved in a robbery hold-up in Muntinlupa and Makati,” the official added.The official added that the operation was initially meant to verify reports of suspicious individuals in the area.“Ang anti-criminality operation… nag-chance upon ‘to. Chance upon… allegedly, merong group of men na nasa isang bahay na labas-labas, lumalakad na armado,” he said.Upon validation, police intelligence units were immediately dispatched to assess the situation, with support from tactical teams.“Immediately, I dispatched intel to validate… hindi naman basta-basta tayo pwedeng pumasok… silipin muna kung sino ‘yung mga nandoon,” the official said.During the operation, one of the suspects reportedly stood out and was identified by authorities.Police said the suspects were eventually arrested after operatives discovered illegal items in their possession.Recovered from them were four heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing approximately 5.3 grams with an estimated street value of ₱36,040. Also seized were three marked ₱100 bills, a caliber .38 revolver with serial number 980440, three live ammunition, and one MK2 hand fragmentation grenade.“Fortunate, pagpasok ng mga kasama… may drugs, merong baril, may granada,” the of.Authorities said the suspects were informed of the nature of their arrest and were apprised of their constitutional rights in a language they understood.Inventory and documentation of the seized items were conducted at the scene in the presence of Barangay Pembo Kagawad Roland A. Carillo and media representative Angie Santos of Rektang Puna News. Police said efforts were made to secure a representative from the National Prosecution Service of the Department of Justice, but none were available at the time.The confiscated drug evidence will be turned over to the Southern Police District Forensic Unit for laboratory examination, while the recovered firearm will undergo ballistic testing.Charges are being prepared against the suspects for inquest proceedings before the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office.
