<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/177450292762520220824-supreme-court-facade-GC-9 (1).jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">The Supreme Court building in Padre Faura, Manila. <em>George Calvelo, ABS-CBN News</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — The Supreme Court suspended operations Thursday in Metro Manila due to the ongoing nationwide transport trike.</p><p>Transport and commuter groups <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/3/26/transport-commuter-groups-launch-nationwide-strike-to-demand-oil-tax-repeal-0825">launched a strike Thursday</a> over rising prices of petroleum products due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.</p><p>In a memorandum issued by Deputy Court Adminstrator for Regional Services Rainelda Estacio-Montesa, Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo approved the early dismissal of court employees at 2 p.m.</p><p>“Executive judges shall ensure that their stations, when necessary and practicable, have a sufficient skeleton workforce to act on urgent requests for bail, orders of release, writs of habeas corpus, and similar urgent reliefs, and that the courts’ hotlines are maintained during the suspension of work and court operations,” Estacio-Montesa said in her memorandum.</p><p>The memorandum was issued to all judges in first and second level court in Metro Manila.</p><p>“Litigants, lawvers, court users, law enforcement agencies, and the general public shall be promptly notified of all suspensions of work and court operations in the trial courts,” Estacio-Montesa said.</p><p>The Supreme Court’s memorandum is only for Thursday, March 26 although the nationwide transport strike organized by coalitions under Manibela continues until Friday.</p><div><br/></div><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/xmpWrNnMMag?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div>
