<p>MANILA — The Philippine National Police (PNP) said Tuesday it would deploy nearly 100,000 personnel nationwide, including 755 officers from its Highway Patrol Group (HPG), to ensure public safety during Holy Week exodus. </p><p>PNP Chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said around 98,000 police officers would be stationed across the country.</p><p>“Ang trabaho ng PNP is to maintain peace and order at the same time, ready tayo to respond dito sa ating emergency responses for public safety,” Nartatez said during the inter-agency press briefing.</p><p>The PNP-HPG, for its part, will deploy 755 personnel to 179 locations nationwide, focusing on key convergence areas such as churches, transport terminals, rotundas, and major highways. </p><p>“Ito po ay idi-deploy sa atin pong entries and exits po ng mga parishes and even dito po sa mga churches, most especially sa mga rotondas at sa mga terminals na alam po natin ding gagamitin po ng atin pong mga kababayan—paggamit po para po makapunta po sa kanilang pong mga paroroonan,” he told state television PTV.</p><p>PNP-HPG spokesperson Lt. Nadame Malang said authorities were preparing for a surge of motorists, particularly on the eve of Maundy Thursday, despite monitoring fewer vehicles leaving Metro Manila so far.</p><p>“Ang pangunahing target or location po nito ito pong ating pong mga places of convergence,“ he said.</p><p>Malang said the HPG would also implement a more efficient system for apprehending violators through its Information Management System, which allows authorities to quickly verify vehicle records.</p><p>“Sa ganito pong uri ng sistema, malalaman po kaagad natin kung alarmado po ang isa pong sasakyan lalo’t higit kung ito po ay nagkaroon po ng mga pagtatala ng mga initial violations or kung ito po ay nasangkot po sa anuman pong krimen at ito din po naman ay incorporated na po sa atin pong mga ginagawang na pong operations,” he said.</p><p>The PNP-HPG warned against overloading and the use of unauthorized or “colorum” vehicles, stressing that these violations would not be tolerated during the holiday period.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/3/29/ltfrb-intensifies-inspection-of-bus-puv-terminals-ahead-of-holy-week-exodus-0904">LTFRB intensifies inspection of bus, PUV terminals ahead of Holy Week exodus</a></div><p>The broader PNP deployment will include close coordination with the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and local barangays to monitor traffic flow, enforce ordinances, and prevent accidents.</p><p>Key roads such as the Manila North and South Roads, Maharlika Highways, MacArthur Highway, and provincial boundaries, will be under tight monitoring.</p><p>The police force is already on heightened alert, which will remain in effect until Monday, covering the peak travel days of Holy Week.</p><p>“We are eyeing zero focus crime during at least dito sa Good Friday.
