Darylle Sarmiento, ABS-CBN News</div>MANILA — The family of the victim has appealed to authorities as they continue to grieve the loss of a motorcycle rider who died after being thrown off Beata Bridge last Sunday.The victim’s father is urging concerned agencies to address the condition of the bridge to prevent similar incidents.<div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/4/20/delivery-rider-patay-matapos-tumilapon-mula-sa-flyover-sa-maynila-1335">Delivery rider patay matapos tumilapon mula sa flyover sa Maynila</a></div>“Doon sa nakakasakop na LGU o national government, to avoid another accident, sana kung ano mga dapat gawin doon sa tulay, kung ano mga dapat ma maintenance o mga safety para hondi na maulit yung accident na ganun, maayos sana,” he said.He added that installing safety railings on the bridge would be beneficial.“Mag-coordinate sana ang LGU saka ang national government para sa ikabubuti rin ng community. Pinakamaganda malagyan ng safety precaution yung area,” he added.It was observed that several railings on the bridge are already missing.Residents living near the bridge earlier claimed that the railings are allegedly being stolen.However, according to the Manila Police District, no formal complaints regarding theft have been received so far.“Sa ngayon wala tayong natatanggap na ganung report na merong nangyaring pagnanakaw doon sa railings. Gayunpaman, ipagbibigay alam natin doon sa nakakasakop na istasyon at partikular doon sa barangay na nakakasakop,” PMaj. Philipp Ines, MPD spokesperson said.The bridge is under the jurisdiction of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). Despite this, it lacks safety signages, and some of its reflectors are already damaged.The news team has repeatedly sought a statement from DPWH regarding the bridge’s condition, but has yet to receive a response.
