Akbayan party-list Rep. Chel Diokno on Wednesday gave his opinion on former VP Leni Robredo’s decision <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/4/21/leni-robredo-says-she-won-t-seek-national-post-in-2028-1207">not to run</a> for a national post in the 2028 election.“Maaga pa, marami pang pwedeng mangyari bago umabot ang 2028 na eleksyon. Abangan na lang natin ang susunod na kabanata diyan,” he said in a DZMM interview.Diokno said Robredo’s decision to seek a second term as mayor of Naga shows that she is focused on solving the problems in her city. He said that whatever the outcome in the coming months, the so-called opposition must only have one candidate for the 2028 presidential election.An OCTA Research survey earlier showed Robredo has narrowed the gap in the 2028 presidential race against leading contender Vice President Sara Duterte.<div><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/FhBux69bkjs?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe> </div>In an interview with 91.1 DWNX FM, Robredo said there is a lot left to do in her hometown. “Sigurado na ako sa sarili ko na hindi na ko ma-national,” the former vice president said.The mayor explained that while progress has been made, much remains to be done in Naga City. She pointed out the constraints of her current term, describing it as too short to accomplish all her goals.&quot;Ako sa tingin ko, ang three years maiksi. Maiksi siya para gawin ang lahat. In fact, very frustrating para sa akin… na marami ang gusto kong gawin na hindi ko mamadali dahil kailangan kong i-navigate ang bureaucracy. Dahil marami rin ang hindi ko control,&quot; Robredo said.&quot;Ako most probably, magsi-seek pa ako ng second term [as Naga City mayor],&quot; she added.
