The terrain itself, described as mountainous piles of garbage, remains unstable, limiting the movement of both fire trucks and heavy machinery.</p><p>&quot;Sa ilalim kasi niyan, iyong layered-layered na basura. Instead, responders rely on controlled misting and gradual soil coverage.</p><p>&quot;Hindi rin siya pwedeng i-total flooding e, or sobrang basa. Dahil ang sabi ng mga eksperto natin, na mayroon &#x27;yang liner sa ilalim. So hindi rin natin pwede i-compromise iyong liner sa ilalim ng mga landfill na &#x27;yan. So kaya misting lang ang ginagawa,&quot; he added.</p><p>Conditions on the ground remain hazardous. Toxic fumes, extreme heat, and unstable footing pose constant threats to personnel. In some cases, the heat beneath the surface has been intense enough to damage protective gear.</p><p>&quot;Alam niyo iyong mga responders natin noong mga unang linggo dahil nga hindi siya passable dahil bulubundukin iyong mga basura doon. Gano&#x27;n kainit iyong ilalim,&quot; Arroyo recounted.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>NO CLEAR END IN SIGHT</strong></div><p>At present, the BFP deploys three to four fire trucks daily, along with no fewer than 50 personnel, focusing on safety monitoring, equipment cooling, and support for soil capping operations.</p><p>While progress is being made, Arroyo acknowledged that no definitive timeline can be given for when the fire will be fully extinguished.</p><p>&quot;On behalf ng BFP, ang aming maipangako diyan, hindi namin &#x27;yan iiwanan hangga&#x27;t may kaunting usok at hindi pa totally na-suppress.
