She has served as a judge of the Crown Court of England and Wales since 2012, handling complex cases including fraud and murder.</p><p>A Queen’s Counsel since 1993, she also served for eight years as a senior prosecutor at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, where she led several high-profile war crimes prosecutions.</p><p>At the ICC, she is assigned to the Trial Division and has presided over proceedings including The Prosecutor v. Ali Muhammad Ali Abd-Al-Rahman (“Ali Kushayb”).</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>Keebong Paek (Republic of Korea)</strong></div><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:633px;display:block"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1777370908862Judge-Keebong-Paek.jpg" style="width:633px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left"><em>Courtesy: International Criminal Court </em></span></span></span></div><p>Paek, elected to the ICC in 2023, has more than three decades of experience as a prosecutor and legal expert. He began his career in 1992 and handled a wide range of criminal cases.</p><p>He has also served internationally, including as a senior adviser at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, with expertise in transnational crime, terrorism, and international cooperation. He was also responsible for drafting the implementation bill for Korea&#x27;s ratification of the Rome Statute, and representing the country at ICC Preparatory Commission sessions and the Kampala Review Conference.</p><p>Before joining the ICC, he was in private practice focusing on cross-border investigations and international criminal law.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>Nicolas Guillou (France)</strong></div><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:633px;display:block"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1777370932422Judge-Nicolas-Guillou.jpg" style="width:633px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left"><em>Courtesy: International Criminal Court </em></span></span></span></div><p>Guillou, elected as judge of the ICC in 2023, previously served as a Pre-Trial Judge at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers, and is currently handling cases involving war crimes and crimes against humanity.</p><p>He has held senior roles in international justice, including as Chef de Cabinet to the President of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, and as a Liaison Prosecutor at the U.S. Department of Justice. He began his career as an investigative judge in France and specializes in international and European criminal law.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>CONVICTION BY 2028?</strong></div><p>The ICC said Trial Chamber III will oversee all subsequent proceedings, including setting the timetable for trial and resolving preliminary issues such as disclosure of evidence and procedural matters.</p><p>Victims’ lawyer Kristina Conti said families of alleged extrajudicial killing victims remain hopeful the case will move swiftly.</p><p>“If the ICC keeps at this pace, victims are hopeful that trial can start as soon as this year, and perhaps the conviction of Duterte be had by 2028,” she told ABS-CBN News.</p><p>Duterte, 81, will be the first Asian former head of state to face trial at the ICC, which prosecutes individuals for the world&#x27;s worst crimes such as war crimes and crimes against humanity.</p><div><a class="fr-strong fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/4/28/icc-constitutes-trial-chamber-for-rodrigo-duterte-case-1621">READ: ICC constitutes trial chamber for Rodrigo Duterte case</a></div>
