<p>MANILA — CCTV footage showed that the riding-in-tandem suspects who carried out the <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/4/28/sasakyan-pinaulanan-ng-bala-sa-edsa-2-pasahero-sugatan-2223">fatal ambush</a> of a businessman and his driver in Quezon City were tailing the victims’ vehicle moments before the attack, police said Wednesday.</p><p>Based on the video, the suspects were seen waiting along Scout Ybardoloza corner Scout Limbaga before following the businessman’s vehicle as it passed the area. </p><p>The motorcycle-riding suspects then trailed the victims until they reached Timog Avenue, where the ambush took place.</p><p>“Makikita doon sa CCTV na inabangan talaga siya. So, there is a strong probability that prior to the incident, the victim was surveyed,” said PLt. Col. Zachary Capellan, station commander of Police Station 10. </p><div><br/></div><div><strong>ABANDONED MOTORCYCLE</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>Authorities said the suspects were later seen stopping along Scout Rallos, where they changed clothes and abandoned the motorcycle used in the crime. </p><p>The motorcycle was recovered Tuesday evening. </p><div><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FabscbnNEWS%2Fposts%2Fpfbid02yL1jkxvWXsxqibvSathqdYTSwdrYRWxNRuonv8XtPfcHmuTSHp1YTsYt8G4stwQol&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500" width="500" height="773" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><div><br/></div><p>Investigators collected additional evidence from the vehicle, including helmets and surgical masks. </p><p>“The forensic group were able to recover four latent prints and another similar latent prints were recovered from both left and right side mirror [of the motorcycle]. That includes also ‘yung DNA examination to both helmets,” Capellan added. </p><p>However, police later discovered that the motorcycle’s MV file number did not match the vehicle. </p><p>The MV file number was traced to an individual in Batasan, Quezon City, who voluntarily appeared before authorities and clarified that his registration belonged to a different motorcycle model.</p><p>Another CCTV video showed the suspects fleeing on foot toward Scout Ybardoloza before turning toward Scout Borromeo, where they boarded a tricycle to escape.</p><p>Authorities have enhanced the suspects’ facial and physical features using CCTV footage as part of the ongoing investigation.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>BUSINESS-RELATED MOTIVE EYED</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>Police said the initial assessment pointed to a possible business-related motive, noting that the victim was involved in bars and billiard establishments. </p><p>The victims’ families have yet to disclose whether the businessman had received threats prior to the incident.</p><p>Meanwhile, Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson PBGen. Randulf Tuaño assured the public that the investigators were closely monitoring the case and working to arrest the suspects. </p><p>The PNP urged the public to coordinate with authorities if they recognize the suspects, and to contact the Unified 911 hotline or the Quezon City Helpline 122 for any information. </p><div><br style="caret-color:rgb(0, 0, 0);color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"/></div>
