MANILA — The Sacred Heart Parish Shrine in Kamuning marked Easter Sunday with pre-dawn rites and a call for the faithful to stand firm in truth as they celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.The celebration began at 3:30 a.m. with the traditional Salubong, as two separate processions moved through the streets—one bearing the image of the Risen Christ from Barangay Kamuning, and the other carrying the image of the Virgin Mary from Barangay South Triangle.The images met at the church facade at around 4:20 a.m., marking the reunion of mother and son following Christ’s Resurrection. As the two images met, the choir led the singing of “Reyna ng Langit,” followed by “Regina Caeli” performed by children dressed as angels.As part of the ritual, the veil covering the Virgin Mary’s face was lifted, signifying joy of the reunion between mother and son after the Resurrection. The Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Raul Caga, SVD, who urged the faithful in his homily to bear witness to the truth of Christ’s Resurrection.“Patuloy na lumalakas ang Simbahang nagpapahayag ng muling pagkabuhay ng ating Panginoong Hesukristo,” he said.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/4/5/marcos-on-easter-sunday-choose-generosity-over-self-interest-unity-over-division-0600">Marcos on Easter Sunday: &#x27;Choose generosity over self-interest, unity over division&#x27;</a></div>In his homily, Fr. Caga urged the faithful to proclaim the truth of Christ’s Resurrection with conviction, emphasizing the Church’s mission to stand firmly for the truth.“Ang pinakamainam na paraan ay manindigan sa katotohanan… Dapat galit tayo sa disinformation at misinformation ng lahat ng uri,” he said.Several parishioners said the early morning rites renewed their faith.“Napakasarap sa feeling na nagbalik ang Panginoon, buhay na uli,” he said.Visitor Mitz Abentajado described the celebration as spiritually uplifting.“Nakaka-enlighten… parang na-reload ‘yung spirituality mo,” she said.For youth ministry coordinator Nica Coloquio, the celebration strengthened their commitment to serve.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/4/4/in-easter-message-cardinal-advincula-calls-for-end-to-this-senseless-war-2200">In Easter message, Cardinal Advincula calls for end to &#x27;senseless war&#x27; </a></div>“Masayang-masaya kami na na-celebrate namin uli ‘yung pagkabuhay ni Jesus. Feeling namin, na-recharge at na-renew din kami sa faith namin,” Coloquio said.The parish had earlier held its Easter Vigil Mass on Saturday evening, marking the end of the Paschal Triduum and the beginning of the 50-day Easter Season.A total of 11 Masses are scheduled throughout Easter Sunday as the faithful continue to commemorate the Resurrection.The Easter Season will run for 50 days, culminating in Pentecost Sunday.
