Gumagawa kami ng hakbang ngayon para makipag-communicate through back channels. Bini-verify namin kung dumating talaga sa kanila,” Remulla said.</p><p>Earlier, Ang was believed to be in either Cambodia or Thailand, based on information from whistleblower Julie Patidongan. </p><p>Cambodian authorities, however, denied that Ang was in their country.</p><p>“Kasi ang latest report ay sa Cambodia, nag-crackdown na ang Cambodian government sa mga POGO, lahat ng mga operasyon doon. Kaya ang report sa amin ay lumipat naman siya sa Vietnam,” Remulla said.</p><p>“Parang one month ago ang dumating na intel sa amin. Pero, bini-verify namin ‘yan through back channels kung totoo o hindi sa mga counterparts namin sa Vietnam,” he added.</p><p>Remulla said that could have left the country through unofficial routes, possibly via Mindanao, as there were no records of his departure with the Bureau of Immigration.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/3/27/fugitive-atong-ang-still-in-ph-bi-spokesperson-says-1844">Fugitive Atong Ang still in PH, BI spokesperson says</a></div><p>The report of Ang’s possible presence in Vietnam appears related to the crackdown on Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) in Cambodia and the broader Golden Triangle area.</p><p>“I think nagdi-disperse na naman sila. Dito kasi, we&#x27;re very vigilant. Dito kasi may tourist visas para sa Chinese, so double time kami sa mga LGUs na siguraduhin na hindi makaka-reestablish ang POGO dito sa Pilipinas,” Remulla said. </p><p>He added that Vietnam’s strict law enforcement would make it difficult for Ang to operate businesses there.</p><p>“Mahirap doon e kasi communist ang government doon, so very strict sila sa law and order.  I don&#x27;t think makaka-apply siya ng negosyo doon. Pero kasi, ‘yung mga POGO sa Cambodia, nag-crack down na e. Tinitigilan na rin sila e,” he said. </p><p>Meanwhile, Remulla said local authorities continue to pursue Ang in the Philippines. </p><p>“Nonstop naman. We had over 200 raids in the last three months, so negative pa siya dito sa lahat ng known na mga cohorts niya, mga kasama niya. Ang dami na naming pinuntahan na lugar. Negative sa lahat ng pinuntahan.
