Handout/PCO</span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) on Thursday said it is tracking the perpetrators behind a “sudden and coordinated surge in disinformation&quot; campaign targeting the President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.&#x27;s health.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/4/8/palace-collecting-evidence-to-file-complaint-vs-false-info-on-marcos-health-1637">Palace collecting evidence, to file complaint vs false info on Marcos health</a></div><p>The announcement comes a day after multiple posts alleging that Marcos is suffering from stage 4 cancer, and is confined in a private hospital on the brink of death.</p><p>Other posts also accused the media of allegedly colluding with the government to depict Marcos as alive and well through the supposed use of old photos when reporting on recent events.</p><p>“The Presidential Communications Office is tracking and documenting every post, every comment, and every lie,” Communications Secretary Dave Gomez said in a statement.</p><p>“Each one is a piece of evidence we can use in court. We will identify the perpetrators, trace their networks, and file the proper charges in court once the evidence is complete hopefully by next week,” he said.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/4/5/palace-warns-of-charges-for-spreading-fake-news-on-energy-crisis-1336">Palace warns of charges for spreading ‘fake news’ on energy crisis</a></div><p>Gomez noted that the surge in disinformation against Marcos happened as the President continues to deal with tempering oil price shocks that have been crippling the Philippines since early March.</p><p>“The timing is suspect. Why the sudden surge at this time? Why resort to outright lies? Why the desperation?
