MANILA — Following the viral video of a Quezon City police officer pushing a motorcycle rider, Napolcom Commissioner Ralph Calinisan vowed not only to relieve the cop involved but also the chief and investigator of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation Unit over the alleged downgrading of the case.In a press conference on Thursday, May 14, Napolcom presented the suspect, who refused to give any statement except to apologize to the victim.“Humihingi po ako ng tawad sa mga taong naperwisyo,” he said.Calinisan said the suspect will face administrative complaints for grave misconduct and conduct unbecoming of a police officer. The Quezon City Police District has also earlier relieved the officer from his post at the District Mobile Force Battalion.Aside from the cop involved, Calinisan also vowed to relieve the investigator and the QCPD CIDU chief for initially filing a physical injuries case, which he said should clearly be treated as a frustrated murder case.“May road rage, nag-unahan, nagkiskisan. Dahil doon, tinulak niya yung rider na nakaalitan niya. Ang tanong, anong dapat na kaso ang ifinile? Attempted murder ba na mabigat ang parusa? O itong balak nilang i-file na slight physical injuries? Alam natin lahat na sobrang gaang nong slight physical injuries,” he explained.“We will make necessary actions for them to be relieved. Klaro-klaro naman yung nakita ng buong Pilipinas.
