Dela Rosa was seen in a jacket and a cap, with Senator Robinhood Padilla accompanying him on his way out.<em> Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News &amp; PNP screengrab</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA<strong> (UPDATE) </strong>— The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) said it will refer a complaint for alleged obstruction of justice against Senator Robinhood Padilla and several individuals accused of helping Senator Ronald Dela Rosa evade authorities.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/5/25/padilla-defends-staff-member-linked-to-bato-s-departure-from-senate-1544">Padilla defends staff member linked to Bato’s departure from Senate</a></div><p>In a statement, the CIDG said its investigation found that the transport of Dela Rosa from the Senate before dawn on May 14, 2026, was “not a mere hitch ride” on Padilla’s vehicle, but supposedly a “highly coordinated” and “pre-planned logistical maneuver” intended to &quot;avoid detection while escaping the Senate premises.&quot;</p><p>Investigators also alleged that another vehicle tailed Padilla’s car and served as a security escort and backup vehicle during the operation.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/5/20/cctv-shows-dela-rosa-padilla-leaving-senate-after-may-13-gunfire-1353">CCTV shows Dela Rosa, Padilla leaving Senate after May 13 gunfire</a></div><p>The CIDG said the complaint will be referred to the National Prosecution Service of the Department of Justice.</p><p>“The legal action is in line with the CIDG’s mandate to conduct an investigation and enforce the law equitably and without exception,” the statement read.</p><p>“When individuals actively interfere in the arrest or assist in the evasion of criminal offenders to avoid prosecution, it undermines the justice system and compromises public order,” it added.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/5/22/-wala-namang-humarang-sa-amin-padilla-says-dela-rosa-dropped-off-in-makati-after-senate-exit-1015">‘Wala namang humarang sa amin’: Padilla says Dela Rosa dropped off in Makati after Senate exit</a></div><p>The police agency also warned that any act of obstruction of justice would be met with criminal prosecution.</p><p>On Tuesday, the Department of Justice said it was studying Padilla’s admissions on the disappearance of Dela Rosa, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court.</p><p>Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida said Padilla’s public remarks were already enough, when asked why the senator was not issued a letter or subpoena to provide information on the May 13 gunfire that preceded Dela Rosa’s exit from the Senate. </p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/5/26/doj-studying-padilla-remarks-on-dela-rosa-disappearance-ang-dami-na-niyang-inamin-1217">DOJ looking into Padilla remarks on Dela Rosa disappearance: ‘Ang dami na niyang inamin’</a></div><p>Padilla previously said Dela Rosa hitched a ride with him in the early morning of May 14, hours after the Senate mayhem.
