MANILA -- The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Sunday clarified that its proposed subpoena of Nancy Dela Rosa is not intended to locate her husband, Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, but to probe statements tied to the Senate shooting incident. “Let me be clear on one point: the NBI’s consideration of a subpoena directed at Ms. Nancy Dela Rosa has nothing to do with locating Senator Ronald ‘Bato’ Dela Rosa. We are not asking her where her husband is,” the bureau said in astatement.<div><a class="fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/5/29/marcos-dela-rosa-online-voting-senate-1251">Marcos dares Bato: If you want to vote, show up </a></div>The NBI explained that its interest stems from accounts attributed to Ms. Dela Rosa by Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano. According to Cayetano, Ms. Dela Rosa sent a text message claiming the senator had “escaped” amid the chaos of the Senate shooting and that his continued presence endangered colleagues. “If that account is accurate, it raises a serious question: was the Senate shooting used as a deliberate diversion to facilitate the Senator’s departure? That is the question the NBI intends to pursue,” the bureau noted. Investigators have already identified General Mao Aplasca as the one who started the shooting, establishing his direct involvement. “And it naturally raises the question of who directed him.
