<p>MANILA — Malacañang on Tuesday called out Sen. Imee Marcos for spreading false information about the alleged importation of vegetables despite its availability from domestic producers, labeling the senator’s statement as “fake news.”</p><p>The senator accused her younger brother’s government of ignoring the plight of Filipino farmers when oil price shocks have triggered economic woes across several sectors.</p><p>“Wala pong katotohanan ang sinasabi ni Sen. Imee Marcos… Hindi nag-aangkat ang DA (Department of Agriculture) ng repolyo,” Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro told Palace reporters.</p><p>“Yes, it is fake news,” she said.</p><p>The Palace also confirmed Sen. Marcos’s statement that her ties with the President were “non-existent.”</p><p>“They haven’t spoken for almost 3 years. She has not been attending family gatherings, family events,” Castro said.</p><p>“Sa Pangulo po ay wala siyang masamang damdamin sa kaniyang nakakatandang kapatid… [Pero] bago siya sumagot ay pinag-isipan niya talaga,” she said.</p><p>“Sa aking paningin, sa kaniyang body language ay disappointed siya sa kaniyang naririnig sa kapatid.”</p><p>Castro also commented on the earlier arrest of vlogger Jay Sonza who is facing charges for peddling false information about the President’s health.</p><p>“Sa mga gumagawa ng krimen, hindi kayo sasantuhin ng batas.
