<p>MANILA (UPDATED) - The Philippine National Police (PNP) has issued a statement addressing reports on possible contingency measures linked to the International Criminal Court (ICC) and an alleged arrest warrant involving Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa. </p><p>PNP Chief P/Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. emphasized said the police organization will act only upon lawful orders issued by competent authorities, in strict accordance with existing laws, rules, and procedures. </p><p>“Any appropriate police action, if and when necessary, shall be undertaken with full adherence to due process, the rule of law, and respect for human rights,” the statement read. </p><div> <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/5/9/dilg-no-info-yet-on-alleged-icc-arrest-warrant-vs-bato-dela-rosa-1510"><strong>DILG: No info yet on alleged ICC arrest warrant vs Bato Dela Rosa</strong></a></div><p>The PNP noted that it continues to coordinate closely with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and other concerned agencies to ensure that all actions remain consistent with established legal and operational protocols. </p><p>This follows remarks made by Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla on possible contingency measures should ICC-related developments arise.</p><p>Remulla said the DILG is preparing a 10,000-strong task force for dragnet operations should the ICC issue a warrant of arrest against dela Rosa. </p><p>The police organization assured the public that professionalism, prudence, maximum tolerance, and accountability will guide its actions at all times. </p><p> It also urged Filipinos to exercise discernment and avoid spreading unverified information circulating online, stressing that only official statements from authorized government agencies should be relied upon. </p><p>“The PNP remains committed to its mandate of upholding the rule of law, maintaining peace and order, and serving the Filipino people with integrity, professionalism, and impartiality,” Nartatez said.</p><p> According to Senate records covering July 28, 2025 to March 18, 2026, Dela Rosa was absent for 31 session days, making him the chamber’s top absentee. </p><p>His prolonged absences began in November 2025, coinciding with reports of an ICC arrest warrant, and a civil society group filed an ethics complaint in February 2026 citing his failure to fulfill legislative duties. </p><div> <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/4/8/dela-rosa-is-top-absentee-according-to-senate-records-1804"><strong>Dela Rosa is top Senate absentee; 4 senators log perfect attendance: Senate records</strong></a></div><p>When asked about ICC-related developments, Malacañang Undersecretary Claire Castro offered a guarded response: “I can neither confirm nor deny.”</p><div> </div><div> </div><div><br/></div>
