Jinggoy Estrada was arrested Monday after his voluntary surrender for his non-bailable plunder case related to the flood control controversy. </p><p>Estrada said he &quot;will not seek Senate custody&quot; after the Sandiganbayan issued a warrant of arrest case against him. </p><p>&quot;Hindi ko gagamitin ang Senado bilang panangga laban sa mga alegasyon sa akin,&quot; he said in a press conference. </p><p>&quot;I will be proceeding now to the CIDG to voluntarily surrender myself,&quot; he said before leaving the Senate for Camp Crame in Quezon City.</p><p>Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said he arrived at the Senate at around 3:30 p.m. &quot;to implement the warrant of arrest&quot; from the Sandiganbayan Fifth Division. </p><p>&quot;Sumama po si Jinggoy, binasahan siya ng Miranda rights niya, kasama ang kanyang abogado... Mapayapa siyang sumama dito sa CIDG, prinocess, inaresto,&quot; Remulla said in a separate press briefing.</p><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="960" height="540" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/LPP322JTWzA?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span></div><p>The Sandiganbayan Fifth Division issued the warrant of arrest against Estrada just days after he <a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/5/29/jinggoy-estrada-arrest-warrant-out-1346">posted bail </a>for his separate graft case. </p><p>According to the lawmaker, the Senate Legislative Budget Research and Monitoring Office (LBRMO) told the Ombudsman that it does not have any record of him making any insertion to the 2025 national budget. </p><p>Estrada added that this information was acknowledged by Senator Panfilo Lacson, the former chairperson of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, which is investigating the flood control mess.</p><p>&quot;How can the Office of the Ombudsman file a plunder case against me when I am not even alleged to be part of, or the mastermind of, the supposed scheme? Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. is also currently detained. </p><p>Estrada and Bonoan are set to be arraigned for their separate graft charge on June 2, according to the Sandiganbayan Second Division.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>BONOAN AT HOSPITAL</strong></div><p>But Remulla said Bonoan was heading first to a hospital &quot;because his hypertension was listed at 192/100.&quot;</p><p>&quot;Imminent na yung stroke niya at 192,&quot; Remulla said.</p><p>&quot;He will be kept there for an undetermined amount of time before he stabilizes. I will not yield to threats. I will not be intimidated. I will not be pressured into surrendering my independence of judgment,&quot; he said.</p><p>&quot;I stand my ground because what is at stake here goes far beyond my personal circumstances. What is at stake here is the independence of the Senate. This institution must never become vulnerable to external pressure. It must become free from political coercion, free from undue influence, and free from any scheme designed to weaken its constitutional role as a co-equal and independent branch of government,&quot; the senator said.  </p><p>&quot;I will not be broken by accusations nor will I yield to political pressure. Baka sila ang namumulitika ang hindi ang ehekutibo,” Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro told Palace reporters in a chance interview.</p><p>“Paano magkakaroon ng pamumulitika ang ehekutibo kung ito ay dumadaan sa tamang proseso at tamang pagiimbestiga? Ang Office of the Ombudsman ay hindi hawak ng Pangulo, independent constitutional body ito,” she said.</p><p>“Ang judiciary din naman po ay hindi pinangungunahan at hindi pinangungunahan ng ehekutibo,” she added.</p><p>During his press conference, Eala also gave instructions regarding his salary, telling the Senate secretary to put it on hold. &quot;Personal kong pasya ito upang ipakita sa sambayanang Pilipino na wala akong intensiyong makinabang sa pondo ng bayan habang nililinis ko ang aking pangalan,&quot; he said.</p><p>Also in the press conference were Senate President Cayetano, Senators Imee Marcos, Rodante Marcoleta, Mark Villar, and Camille Villar.</p><p>Earlier in the day, Estrada said his camp asked the court to <a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/6/1/jinggoy-estrada-questions-plunder-graft-raps-in-omnibus-motions-1047">consolidate the cases</a> pending before the Second and Fifth Divisions, defer the issuance of warrants of arrest, quash the information, and remand the cases for reinvestigation and/or completion of the preliminary investigation.</p><p>Estrada maintains that the allegations against him are baseless and false. </p><p>“Umaasa ako sa patas na pagtrato, due process, at pagiging walang kinikilingan sa pagdinig ng kasong ito. Nagtitiwala ako na sa huli, mananaig ang hustisya at ang katotohanan,” he said Friday.</p><p>The cases stemmed from alleged budget insertions and kickback schemes involving P573-million flood control projects.</p><p>This is the third time that Estrada has faced plunder raps.</p><p>Estrada was a co-accused in the jueteng plunder case involving his father, former President Joseph Estrada, but was acquitted in 2007.</p><p>He was also acquitted in 2024 by the anti-graft court of plunder charges over the alleged misuse of P183 million in Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) allocations.
