MANILA — A Mindanao solon is seeking a P15-billion supplemental budget this year for relief, recovery, rehabilitation, repair, and reconstruction in areas affected by the June 8 earthquake in their region.House Assistant Majority Leader Zia Alonto Adiong of Lanao del Sure filed House Bill 9887, which proposes:• P1 billion funding for the repair and rehabilitation of irrigation systems and related agricultural infrastructure damaged by the quake• P1 billion funding for assistance to farmers and fisherfolk• P2 billion for repair and reconstruction of damaged Department of Education  school buildings and learning facilities• P1.5 billion for emergency cash assistance, family food packs, non-food items, temporary shelter assistance• P500 million for the rehabilitation and restoration of electrification infrastructure• P1 billion for the repair and restoration of Department of Health hospitals and facilities damaged by the quake• P500 million for the repair of damaged transport facilities, among others.Adiong said the additional funding is meant &quot;to beef up the support, assistance for the victims of the quake in Mindanao&quot; as he urged colleagues at the House to support the measure.Under the measure, the amount will be appropriated from available funds in the National Treasury.“We will try to look at possible collection. Kasi mayroon naman talagang other revenues coming in. We hope we can identify these possible sources, so we can legislate and we can allocate funding dedicated for the rehabilitation of Mindanao, especially those areas affected greatly by the quake,” Adiong said.<div> </div><div>SYMPATHY</div>The House on Wednesday adopted a resolution “expressing the deepest sympathy, heartfelt concern and unyielding support&quot; for communities in General Santos City, Sarangani province and in other areas of Southern Mindanao. In an interview on the sidelines of the House special session, Majority Leader Sandro Marcos of Ilocos Norte said the House has extended assistance to all districts affected by the recent earthquake.“We are in constant communication with all of those affected to make sure that the leadership gives everything that it can sa ating mga kababayan na apektado,” he also said.
